“There’s the Grinch!”

Kids and parents alike shouted at the RAH float as it glided down the parade route for the opening ceremony of Rotary Lights.

Bradley Burke’s Jeep adorned with lights pulling the float captured attention and the spectators loved it. RAH members and friends danced alongside the slow procession, enjoying attention for the Ugly Sweater 5k, the promotional centerpiece of the RAH float.

When the parade arrived at the end of Riverside park, Santa counted down, the Skyrockers lit up the night with fireworks, and the lights came on. Faces lit up all around us with genuine joy. Smiling and laughing, the crowd was pleased. Thank you to all!

Brad brought bacon. RAH won the Golden Ladle. The End.

Well, there was more to it than that. The Bikers welcomed us with open arms. Scratch got us set up with electrical for our roaster pan; Karma made sure we had plenty of soup cups; Lurch made sure none of the other chefs intimidated us; and Turtle complimented us sheepishly on our presentation. Then the people came. And came back. Our Saddlebag Potato soup was so good, there were murmurs in the room about it. But with the toppings of shredded cheddar, bacon crumbles and green onion, it was great.

.... And now, the 2022 CHAMPION SOUP!

RAH must defend our Golden Ladle in 2023. Perhaps we can divide and conquer by putting together two teams, creating two soups, and keeping the championship trophy for another year! The Jaycees already told us via facebook they are coming for it. Go RAH!

We want to give a big, warm welcome our newest member, Kassie Miller!

Kassie is originally from Freedom, Wisconsin (a small town between Appleton and Green Bay, coincidentally also founding member Justin Garvey’s hometown) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from UW-La Crosse. She now works as Fund Development Director at The Parenting Place.

Kassie enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, and crafting. In the summer especially, you can find her in the yard much of the time, checking in on her and her husband’s plants and trees. Also, her grandma taught her to crochet when she was 10 and she has been coming back to it ever since. In fact, she is  crochet instructor for people who want to learn the basics of crocheting!

Kassie is excited to meet and spend time with people who want to make the community a better place. We think she has found the right group!
