Dearest Rotary Friends,
Our meeting on September 26th brought a ‘WOW’ moment to my heart. This Rotary year has been flying by! Also, our first quarter has come to a close and there have been some
exciting moments. One of those moments was meeting Ida at the gate with a large group of RAH members when she landed in La Crosse. Another moment was this past meeting where our District Governor, Dr. Michelle McGrath shared her story and inspirational message on mental health. Please know that she sends her thanks for making her feel very welcome and she enjoyed meeting everyone and hearing all that we are doing.

It is amazing how much the work all of you do touches the wider community and beyond. As we look forward to the next quarter of our Rotary year, we got to hear from some of RAH’s newest members through their Vocational presentations. There was also the pinning of several new members from the first quarter. In addition, October brings the opportunity to serve those who are homebound throughout the community through Mobile Meals. Please know that volunteering in such an activity allows time to converse with those who have experienced a great deal in their lives as you impact them physically with nourishment. It is a wonderful and rewarding experience. I personally invite you to check your calendars to see if you can make yourself available for a couple of hours this week (October 23rd-29th)!
Finally, my friends, there is a new initiative that began at our first meeting in October. RAH recognized one or two members who are known to have served our club with many hours, including planning events. It is understood that we are not able to recognize everyone all the time and this will be a learning process for criteria to determine who these people are and who will be making the decisions. There will be a recognition at the first meeting of each quarter of the Rotary year.
To close friends, following my reading of the October edition of the Rotary magazine, I would like to share a quote: “When we nurture peace, opportunities, and one another, we help heal the world and create lasting change.” This is the Rotary International initiative for our Rotary year, and it begins at home. Yes, your home, but also our club. As I shared at our last meeting, we need to learn how to better lean on one another, share with each other, and nurture those life-giving relationships one person at a time. Let us continue to nurture the connections between each other.
