FAQ:

How does the run work?

This is a timed run/walk; therefore, you should provide your gender and age group during registration so that we can be sure to get you into the correct competitive bracket. A special prize will be awarded to the 1st place overall racer for male and female. An award will be given to those that place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age category. The age categories are as follows for male and female racers: Under 10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. All that said, feel free to walk and get some fresh air even if you don’t plan to finish in the top 3! Check out the race route here.

I am not in shape... Can I still race?

Of course - round is a shape! From racing stallions to couch potatoes, this 5k provides entertainment for all participants.

How do I get back to Myrick Park?

A shuttle bus will be running between Riverside Park and Myrick Park from 3:00 - 6:00 pm the evening of the race.

Do I receive anything with my registration?

Each race registrant will receive an Ugly Sweater 5k gift and a free hot chocolate. These items will be handed out at the end of the race. Participating virtually? We'll mail it to you!

What is the length of the course?

The course spans 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).

Are there donations to charity?

Event proceeds benefit programs locally and internationally. Additional donations for this cause are welcomed and can be given at our Rotary Club of La Crosse - After Hours website (Click "Give" at the top of the page to donate). More information on this initiative can be found by clicking “About” on The Ugly Sweater 5k website.

Can my kids run?

Santa's little helpers are welcome to participate. Children under 10 can race for free with a canned food donation. Please bring your food item to packet pickup and we will make sure the items make their way to a local food pantry. If you are running with a stroller, we ask that for safety reasons you start at the back of the running group.

Can I pick up someone else's race packet?

If the racer has signed up online and the individual/parent/guardian has already acknowledged our waiver, you may assist them in picking up their race packet.

Will there be any contests?

What would a theme run be without preposterous competitions? In addition to awards for finishers in various age categories, awards will be given for the best ugly sweater. So dig deep in your closet and find something great!

What should I bring?

Bring water if you'd like, but hot chocolate will be provided at the end of the race. Don't forget to wear your best ugly sweater, sport that Santa beard, and bring your over-the-top holiday cheer!

Can I bring my dog to the run with me?

For safety reasons, we discourage bringing your dog to this event.
